They say it's leaking from manifold gaskets.Ībout a year has passed since I first replaced the stock manifold, but I kinda remember when taking off original manifold that the gaskets were single, but multiple gaskets, and thinking at the time that there were some that had more then others. I installed new manifold gaskets and torqued as directed, still only getting 27lb boost.īrought it in to get it checked for a boost leak. Could tell that I had an exhaust manifold leak. Shortly after a week-long trip pulling my 30' fifth wheel I lost boost down to 27 PSI. And put in the edge insight CTS2 so I could monitor better.Īfter I installed the new turbo and exhaust manifold I was getting 32 lb of boost. I added the ATS Aurora 3000 turbo, with ATS's 2 piece exhaust manifold. Came with S&B cold air and horn, 4 or 5in exhaust "not sure", older edge 3 stage tuner, 4in lift on 35's. New forum user and fairly new 06, 5.9l Cummins owner.įairly stock truck. And now I'm hearing a true 99 head does not even need a block plate beacuse there is no erg hole!, I'm so confused, so could I have gotten a slightly wrong head or something? My main concern is fixing the exhaust manifold leak the truck runs great other than that. Another note is that the cylinder head I purchased for the 99 had to have a egr block plate on it beacuse my 99 has no erg.

Coolant leaks can cause the engine to overheat, although they may not always be visible. This can cause performance issues including poor fuel economy, decreased acceleration, and engine misfires. I installed all new gaskets and torqued bolt down good but the exhaust leak is still there. A leaky intake manifold sucks outside air in, rather than dispersing air out. It also listed a casting number for the 99 head so I bought it and when I got the head it was completely different than the one that came off, ( it was much longer length and width wise and would not bolt up to the block) so I return it and get the other casting number and part number head that they list and it is correct i bolt everything up and it's running fine except I hear a tiny exhaust leak coming from the manifold. Now the research I done said the 99 requires a certain head with longer exhaust ports. Due to the high demand on UK courier services, next day delivery cannot be guaranteed at this time. When metal gets cold, it tends to contract, and when metal gets hot, it expands.
#LEAKY MANIFOLD CRACKED#
A loosely secured exhaust manifold or manifold gasket, or a cracked exhaust manifold can create a loud ticking noise under acceleration and usually when the vehicle is cold. The intake manifold is attached to the top of the engine by the intake manifold gasket, which has to be monitored as. Additionally, it conducts coolant through to the cylinders in order to reduce the temperature of the engine. I bought a reman head from AutoZone but they list 2 different heads. Exhaust manifold leaks are most heard when the engine or the exhaust is cold. An intake manifold directs the mixture of air and fuel to the right cylinder to be combusted so it can power the engine. I recently bought a 99 s10 pickup 2.2 that had a exhaust manifold leak and a blown head gasket and warped head. Hello all, I'll try to sum this up short as possible.
